"Finnick Odair, right? Yes. He won his Games at 14. Youngest ever.”
These tributes are crazy..
You see that right there? You see Finnick’s impression as he tries to handle the fact that his one true love has just been kidnapped by the Capitol and they have no clue if she’s alive or what they’ll do to her. As Katniss asks where Peeta is, Finnick turns aways. He doesn’t want to be the one to tell her that Peeta has been taken to the Capitol just like Annie. He doesn’t want to say it out loud. It would make it too real to handle. Handle that when he get’s out of the arena, Annie won’t be there waiting.
Do you want to take me for a walk?
Finnick and I sit for a long time in silence, watching the knots bloom and vanish, before I can ask, “How do you bear it?”
Finnick looks at me in disbelief. “I don’t, Katniss! Obviously, I don’t. I drag myself out of n i g h t m a r e s each morning and find there’s no relief in waking.” Something in my expression stops him. “Better not to give in to it. It takes ten times as long to put yourself back together as it does to f a l l a p a r t.”
Is there a problem here?
